Grizzlies retain Xavier Tillman

It already had one of the best quality/price ratios in the league last season. The Grizzlies have announced that they have activated their option from their interior Xavier Tillman. For the coming fiscal year, the interior of Memphis will receive $1.9 million.

What is not expensive paid for a player who has become essential in the collective of Memphis in recent months. With the successive injuries of Steven Adams, then Brandon Clarke, the 35th choice of the 2020 Draft responded and raised his level of play. He averaged nearly 10 points and 7 rebounds as a starter from February.

The 24-year-old also stood out in the playoffs, in the first round against the Lakers. We remember his Game 2 finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds, where he had made Anthony Davis suffer a lot. Holder throughout the series, the pivot had signed 9 points, 8 rebounds and even 3 assists on average.

While Steven Adams is expected to resume the season, Brandon Clarke should stay in the infirmary for a while yet. Xavier Tillman therefore still has time ahead of him to increase his value with this last year of contract before being extended by the Grizzlies or becoming a “free agent” after the 2023/24 season.

How to read the stats? MJ = matches played; Min = Minutes; Shots = Shots made / Shots attempted; 3pts = 3-points / 3-points attempted; LF = free throws made / free throws attempted; Off = offensive rebound; Def= defensive rebound; Tot = Total bounces; Pd = assists; Fte: Personal fouls; Int = Intercepts; Bp = Lost bullets; Ct: Counters; Points = Points.
