Grant Williams tries his hand in Dallas

After four years of linear progression in Boston, Grant Williams is about to embark on a new stage in his career. It will be in Dallas that he joined this summer, on a four-year, $54 million deal.

Position 4 is therefore preparing to begin this new adventure with first the discovery of a new environment, starting with the city of Dallas, which it has only visited once a year until now. Originally from Texas, but from Houston, he makes the connection with the city of Charlotte where his parents had moved when he was a child.

“A relative told me that Dallas was like Charlotte in a way. It’s like South Charlotte in terms of a city, and I love Charlotte, so if that’s the case, I know Dallas delivers,” he confided on the sidelines of the Mavs Summer Hoop Camp organized for young people in the area which also allowed him to get his bearings. “Each time I’ve been here, the city has been amazing. I enjoyed the food, I enjoyed the people. So I’m very happy to be a part of this franchise now, so I can at least feel more involved in the community itself.”

Not yet 100% recovered from its operation

Most of his adaptation will obviously take place on the pitch, and on this point, the next deadline will be to be declared 100% fit after having had surgery on his left hand at the beginning of June. For now, Grant Williams has gone from a splint to a lighter protection…

” Everything is going well. It will take me a few more weeks before I can fully play again, but otherwise I feel good. The hand is fine, but it’s still recovering. In fact, I have one last phone call on Friday about it. I’m very excited to be able to get back to playing and being active again.”, he continued.

Then will come the time to acclimatize to his teammates including a certain Luka Doncic with whom he will have to be in tune. The fact of going from adversary to teammate of the Slovenian phenomenon seems rather to suit him. For the rest, the genius of the leader should suffice.

“You mean, outside of open fire? »he asked when asked what his collaboration with Luka Doncic would bring him. “The most exciting thing I will witness with Luka will just be to see the way he plays, to see how talented he is. The advantage of having played against him is that we understand how special he is on the pitch, by the way he plays and sees the game. I hope to be able to help the team to grow in its sides, being in this constant effort in the right direction”.
