Goran Dragic's jersey retired by Slovenia

This Saturday, Goran Dragic will play the last game of his career, with a jubilee in Ljubljana, Slovenia, surrounded by several legends such as Steve Nash, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Dirk Nowitzki and others.

The playmaker has been retired for several months and, taking advantage of this prestigious evening, the Slovenian federation will pay him a strong tribute. Indeed, like Tony Parker, and his #9 in the French team, his number 3 will be retired!

“Words and actions are not enough to express our gratitude and respect for such a great player like Goran Dragic”, can be read in the press release by the president of the federation, Matej Erjavec. “His extraordinary career, the way he wore the national jersey and his success on the court speak for themselves. He deserves to be honoured for what he did for Slovenian basketball. Retiring his jersey and number 3 is a gesture from the federation to show our deep respect for him.”

While Goran Dragic wore several numbers with Slovenia, the federation chose #3 because it was with this number that he won Eurobasket 2017. A tournament in which he was elected MVP. He played 90 matches with his country, scoring 1095 points. Two records that still stand, while waiting for Luka Doncic to surely do better.
