“Glue guy” of the Sixers, Nicolas Batum hopes to be back for good

The back and forth of Nicolas Batum are completed. He was the one who announced it on Sunday. Faced with personal problems linked to the health of his wife, the Frenchman has missed five matches since his arrival in Philadelphia, and he returned to the courts on Sunday evening against the Nets.

“I can’t say what it is, but I had to be with her” he confided. “ Sometimes you have to do the right thing for your family. She’ll be fine now, and I hope to be back for good“.

Good news for the couple and their children, but also for Nick Nurse, delighted to find his “glue guy”, whose versatility in defense and altruism in attack he appreciates. What the Sixers coach particularly appreciates is the French winger’s ability to change in defense, but also his positioning in the area.

Confirmed holder

In the victory against the Nets, Nicolas Batum “only” 3 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds, but his +/- of +25 says a lot about his impact. He was also the starter even though he had not played for three games.

“I felt strange, and I didn’t try to do too much” he explained to The Inquirer. “I just tried to get into the rhythm of the match and play as a team. To do simple things in attack and defense. And it worked, and it’s a superb collective victory. »
