While Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore announced that they were ready to fight, by all means, to buy the Wolves, current owner Glen Taylor is giving his version of the facts to anyone who will listen. Owner of the franchise, and even franchises since we must not forget the Lynx (WNBA), Taylor put an end to the resale, arguing that the Lore-Rodriguez duo had not made the last transfer, scheduled for the March 27.
This is disputed by the two partners, even if the New York Post reports that Lore was now more motivated to invest his money in Wonder, a service competing with Uber Eats.
According to Star Tribune, there would be two other explanations for this last minute change of heart. First, the Wolves have moved into another dimension since the buyout agreement, and since the team reached the top of the Western Conference. As of 2021, the franchise is worth $1.5 billion. Today, it is worth 2.5 billion dollars, and obviously Taylor says to himself that he has “sold out” his franchise.
Then, the daily reported comments from this same Taylor at the microphone of insider Patrick Reusse. “We could have gotten more – we could have gotten $2.5 billion paid up front – but this person was going to try to move the team to Las Vegas.” Taylor blurted.
We doubt he's talking about Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, since both were committed to keeping the Wolves in Minneapolis, but it allows Taylor to look good with Wolves fans.
