Unlike Raul Neto, we should see Franz Wagner again in this World Cup. Injured in the left ankle during the opening match against Japan, the German winger will not play against Australia for the shock of this third day of the World Cup, to follow from 10:30 am.
However, the Mannschaft lists the player on a “day-to-day” basis and the selection doctor ruled out any serious problem.
“We were able to exclude serious injuries”explained an optimistic and reassuring Oliver Putz at ESPN. “There is nothing broken or torn. Nothing that would end his World Cup. Franz feels better this morning than yesterday. We did another MRI this morning. But the problem is, we don’t have the footage yet, so we can’t say exactly what’s affected yet.”
Let’s hope for Germany that the absence of Franz Wagner will not be too long, however, because the Orlando player, despite his 21 years, is an essential link in the selection of Gordon Herbert.
With his 15.2 average points, he was the team’s second best scorer (behind only Dennis Schröder and his 22.1 average points) during the last EuroBasket, which ended in a good third place.
