A free agent, the Raptors shooter was unable to land a nice contract, and he agreed to join the Bucks for one season. We don't know his salary yet, but he may have accepted a deal at the minimum salary. Let's remember that he was earning $18.5 million this season, and that he was aiming for a contract with an annual salary of $25 million.
According to ESPNTrent Jr. was sensitive to the speeches of the leaders who are counting on him to aim for the title, but also to the idea of finding Lillard. As our colleagues remind us, Trent Jr. is one of the four NBA players Gary Trent Jr. who have accumulated at least 500 3-point baskets and 300 interceptions over the last three seasons. The other three are Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton and Fred VanVleet.
On the playing side, Trent Jr. will take Malik Beasley's place on the roster, and that's clearly a plus for the Bucks. Overall, Milwaukee's management has done pretty well since they also signed Taurean Prince and Delon Wright. Doc Rivers will be able to count on a tough defensive lineup, but also capable of punishing from afar. That's essential to free up space for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and try to dethrone the Celtics.
