Seattle Storm executives have confirmed the return of Gabby Williams to finish the season. Free agent, the French team's fullback returns to a franchise and a squad that she knows well, and she will find her favorite number 5.
“I am delighted to be joining the Storm for the remainder of the season”, reacted the Franco-American. “I feel more than ready to return to Seattle. I have missed the franchise, my teammates and the fans so much. I can’t wait to get back and finish the season strong.”
The best defender of the Olympic Games and voted in the best five of the competition, the silver medalist returns to a team currently ranked 4th with 18 wins for 10 losses, and she has clearly changed status after her performances in Paris.
“We are delighted to have Gabby back with the Storm,” says her coach Noelle Quinn. “Gabby is a dynamic player who brings great versatility. She is a two-way player who can defend multiple positions and has a strong offensive game. With her familiarity with our system, we know she can make an immediate impact. Gabby’s Olympic performances have highlighted her world-class talent, and we are excited to have her join us as we head into the playoffs.”
In 2022, after her trade from the Sparks, Williams started every game for the Storm, averaging 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals. She finished eighth in steals in the league and earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team.
His first match is scheduled for Monday, at home, against the Mystics. A gentle return against a very modest opponent.
