“Fuck You Reggie”: Reggie Miller returns to New York

Thirty years after the famous “Choke Sign” towards Spike Lee and his 25 points in the last quarter at Madison Square Garden, Reggie Miller was back in New York for a new playoff match between the Knicks and the Pacers.

“I can’t wait to see this atmosphere. I know people ask me if I'm not worried about coming back to New York to commentate on a meeting. No, it's my city. This room is mine. So why would I be worried about coming here? », laughs the TNT commentator.

The atmosphere was even rather festive since Reggie Miller and Spike Lee received a copy of the newspapers of the time, New York Post And Daily News, the day after this legendary match, won by the Pacers, even if it was the Knicks who ultimately went to the Finals in 1994.

Josh Hart, the speaker

“A lot of people in New York, at the airport or around town, the first thing they say to me is, 'I really hate you, but I respect your game.' It's like a medal for me.”continues the former shooter.

Time has passed but the New York public cannot completely forget the clashes with the Pacers of the 1990s. Even more so during a second round of playoffs between the two franchises. The spectators therefore sang “Fuck You Reggie” in the last seconds of Game 2.

Josh Hart then headed to the commentary box. “I don't know if you can hear, but I think they're saying 'Fuck You Reggie'”smiles the player, still tireless and very good in New York's victory. “I wanted to make sure he heard what the fans were singing. I wanted to be really sure”he will then specify with a smile on his lips, in the locker room, to explain this moment.
