France – Venezuela: Yoan Makoundou replaces Yves Pons

We already suspected it a little on Sunday evening, when Vincent Collet mentioned his case at a press conference after recovery training.

The coach still wanted to discuss it with his assistants, but the news has come true today: it’s good Yoan Makoundou who will be part of the twelve players in uniform against Venezuela tonight in Orleans.

The Monegasque interior joined the group only on Sunday, just in time for the first training session. And the “sparring partner” will therefore be launched into the bath this evening, instead of Yves Pons who had experienced his first cape against Tunisia.

The former Cholet player comes out of a season accomplished collectively on the Rock (with a title of French champion and a European Final Four), but complicated individually with little playing time, whether in the Euroleague or in the French championship ( 8 points and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes on average).

With his four selections acquired during the international windows during the season, and his versatile and explosive profile, Makoundou will have a card to play, in the more or less long term depending on the state of Mathias Lessort’s ankle…
