Four years later, the Thunder returns to the playoffs

The “world after” was a world without Thunder in the playoffs. Indeed, the last qualification of the Oklahoma City franchise for a first round dated from 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and with the end of the NBA season played in the middle of summer, in the Orlando “bubble”.

Four years later, the Thunder, currently leading the Western Conference, has just validated its ticket to the playoffs, after its victory in New York.

“It’s a great achievement for the franchise. I couldn't be happier for the team and for the franchise. Now we must continue to sharpen our weapons to prepare.”, welcomes coach Mark Daigneault.

What remains of the team beaten by the Rockets after Game 7 in 2020? Only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort were already there. The two Canadians were very young: 22 years old for the first, one younger for the second. Around them, we found Dennis Schröder, Chris Paul and Steven Adams.

As Jaylen Williams, Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren were not yet in the NBA, a new page will be written for this generation.

” It feels good “comments “SGA”. “I'm not relieved either because this team has big ambitions, high goals. It was on our list for sure, so doing it feels good. But there's no point celebrating. We haven't done anything yet. We must continue to be better. »
