Former Jazz GM expected in Dallas

Big flop of the season since they went from a conference final to the status of “lottery team”, the Mavericks will experience another eventful summer, and according to Mark Stein, Mark Cuban has already started working behind the scenes. So to support Nico Harrison, who arrived as GM in 2021, the Dallas franchise boss opted for Dennis Lindsey since the two parties would be in “advanced discussions”.

A Texan by birth, Lindsey first made a name for himself as an assistant GM at Spurs, before becoming GM of Jazz from 2012 to 2019. We owe him the recruitment of Quin Snyder, Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, and he had even been promoted to vice president of the franchise in 2019.

Two years ago, he found himself at the heart of a dark affair when a player, Elijah Millsap, accused him of having made discriminatory remarks during an end-of-season interview. If the NBA investigation exonerates him, Lindsey still takes a step back a few months later, after the change of ownership. Officially, Lindsey therefore wishes to take a step back to become a “consultant”, but we will learn later that he was simply cold with Quin Snyder.

A role he still occupied this season, even if Danny Ainge, the managing director, and GM Justin Zanik, clearly did not need him to lead the team and take care of recruitment.
