For the first time in his career, LeBron James did not receive MVP votes

For the first time since his arrival in the NBA in 2003, LeBron James did not receive votes for the MVP, the “Michael Jordan” trophy having been awarded last night to Joel Embiid.

It was therefore 19 consecutive seasons that the “King” received at least one vote for the trophy for best player of the regular season. Even if, on closer inspection, the series could have stopped before.

In 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2021/22, three of his first four seasons with the Lakers, he received only one vote each time (5th place) from the voting panel, and it is in particular the vote of the fans on the NBA site, in 2018/19, which granted him a fifth place which allowed him to integrate the classification.

Despite everything, the longevity of the quadruple MVP remains extremely impressive. What to allow him to have accumulated the most points in history, overall, in MVP races, with 10,494 points. Second, Michael Jordan has 7,956.8 points while Tim Duncan is third with 5,238 points.

A ranking based on relative value since the voting methods have often changed, the number of collectable points increasing over the years. What handicap the old glories.
