Passing through Dallas to attend the camp organized by Myles Turner, native of the suburbs of Dallas, the current coach of the Pacers Rick Carlisle was asked to speak about the news of the franchise in which he spent 13 years (2008-2021), and with which he was NBA champion in 2011.
Deprived of the playoffs last season, the Mavericks have been active this summer since in addition to having extended Kyrie Irving, they have recovered Dante Exum, Seth Curry, Grant Williams and Richaun Holmes, to which have been added Derek Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper via the Draft.
“I think the Mavericks did a lot of cool things this offseason. They made a very good draft., thus dropped coach Carlisle.
The worthy successor to Dirk Nowitzki
He also predicted a big year for Luka Doncic. The recent physical transformation of the Slovenian leader on the eve of the World Cup has not escaped him, and like many of his teammates, Rick Carlisle sees a Luka Doncic returning to revenge mode next season. A state of mind that could allow him to aim for the title of MVP of the season.
“I think Luka will be the MVP this year. I think he and Kyrie Irving are going to play really well together.” he added. “I’m sure he does everything right for him. He is on his way to becoming the best player in the world. He is very close and I believe he can become the MVP this year.
The Dallas parenthesis will then continue a little longer for Rick Carlisle, who will be present in Springfield on August 12 for the induction into the Hall Of Fame of Dirk Nowitzki, the only MVP of the season in Mavericks history.
” I can not wait to be there. I will be present throughout the weekend and will attend all the events. It’s a big celebration of Dirk’s career as one of the greatest players of all time. Dirk is one of the greatest players of all time.”he continued. “He is a very special man. I had the privilege of knowing him for 11 years and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world”.
Now it’s up to Luka Doncic to take up the torch…
