For Malcolm Brogdon, the success of the Celtics stems from the good internal atmosphere

Arrived in the NBA six years ago, Malcolm Brogdon knew Milwaukee and Indiana, each time for three seasons, before landing in Massachusetts. The leader therefore had the opportunity to know different locker rooms, where the camaraderie was obviously not as developed as in Boston.

For him, this good general atmosphere is not to be neglected to explain the successful start to the season of the Celtics, solid leaders in the Eastern Conference and on a series of four successes before the reception of the Heat this evening.

“I think we enjoy each other’s company off the pitch and that’s a big part of our results on the pitch. We are a team that laughs and exchanges in the locker room. Everyone can make fun of themselves, make fun of each other. We have a good time on the bus, on the road. I think you see the result during games and our confidence comes from having fun playing with each other.”, he confided. ” It’s a delight. For any NBA player, whether you ask Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, anyone”.

Technical and physical abilities are not enough in high-level sport. The mental aspect and the camaraderie that can exist in a locker room are other levers that make or not the strength of a team. It also feeds the stability of it, essential for it to be productive and incidentally win matches.

Privileged moments to savor at their fair value

For Malcolm Brogdon, the hard core that shaped this Boston team has a lot to do with it. Unlike him, the team’s major players have only known this environment, in Boston, not spared by the crises in recent years, but from which this hard core has managed to protect itself to create this good atmosphere internally.

” It’s certain. It’s honestly a very common conversation I have with guys, just about enjoying where they are. Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Grant Williams, these guys haven’t seen any other teams. So they don’t know how other organizations, other teams behave, how it all works elsewhere. So there’s a lot of good stuff here, top to bottom. From leaders to players to coaches”he added.

This unit also serves the group when it goes through more difficult times. With his experience, but also that of veteran Blake Griffin, Malcolm Brogdon never misses an opportunity to remind his teammates to enjoy this situation to the fullest, in order to perpetuate this virtuous circle.

“I remind the guys when times are tough, because there are always times during the season when there are lulls, guys who are a little unhappy, it’s just the nature of the business. But me and Blake, we’ve been in situations or teams where it wasn’t winning, where the team was really struggling and where it was chaos. So I try to encourage the guys to appreciate what they have here”.
