For Josh Green, the Australian jersey is a uniform

Bronze medalists at the Olympic Games, Australia are clearly among the favorites for the World Cup with a growing pool of NBAers. Among them, there is Josh Giddey, Matisse Thybulle, but also Josh Green, one of Dallas’ rare rays of sunshine last season. Born in Sydney, he played and grew up there until the age of 14, before joining an American high school student.

After only one season at Arizona, he was drafted 18th by the Mavericks in 2020, and his 3rd season was the good one with doubled stats, and more than 25 minutes of average playing time. For him, wearing the Boomers jersey cannot be refused!

“I’ve always been proud to be Australian and have always represented Australia, but it’s different when you go to the Olympics”, reminds Green. “It’s a whole other level. We realize how much the country really means to us. You literally put on your uniform for your country and go fight. I’m so competitive that I take such pride in it. A few weeks ago, I even attended a Wallabies game. I always watch the Matildas (footballers) play. Wearing green and gold is one of the nicest feelings there is. »

Commit to the long term with Dallas

Eligible for an extension this summer, the Mavericks winger does not think too much about it. He will enter the last year of his rookie contract, and if he has followed the rumors of the summer, he knows that his managers have several times refused to include him in trades. In Dallas, we really count on him.

“Honestly, I haven’t thought about it too much”replies Green about a possible extension. “I focused on what is happening. Obviously, it’s a nice feeling to be in this situation, but at the same time, I’ve worked so hard to be in this position now, that you have to keep working. I hope that will happen. I want to be in Dallas. I love Dallas. I like the fanbase, I like the guys. Being in Dallas for the long haul would be amazing.”
