For Draymond Green, the Warriors still have a chance to win the title

With one title won (2022) over the last five years and above all two lost “play-ins”, and three seasons without playoffs, the Warriors are on a more complicated slope than during the first five-year term of Steve Kerr, who was golden with three titles in five years.

This summer, the Californian franchise could lose Klay Thompson, after a difficult 2023/24 exercise on a collective level, with an average defense, a Draymond Green too often suspended and a Stephen Curry who cannot, at 36 years old, save everything at only him. So, can we say that the Warriors are at the end of the race?

“I think there are decisions to be made by our franchise and I have confidence, I know that our leaders, our coaching staff will make the right decisions,” ad inside in his podcast. “I think there is still a small window for us to win the title. And I know this franchise will honor Curry, Thompson and myself. They will honor us by giving us every possible chance to help us win. »

“We change, we age. We are no longer the same team as in 2019 or even as in 2022”

However, the results of recent seasons prove that the Californians must evolve. Steve Kerr announced it in two points, explaining that we must rethink the attack and stabilize the defense. Draymond Green generally agrees with his coach: without a clear line, there is no salvation.

“I think it will be very important for us to define what we want to be”announces the four-time NBA champion. “We change, we age. We are no longer the same team as in 2019 or even as in 2022. Things change and we adapt to this change and that's good. Steve Kerr does a remarkable job when he opens up to Jonathan Kuminga, and gives him the ball more, makes him play more pick-and-roll or one-on-one. »

The Warriors engine ends with a particularly interesting point: resistance to change when we were the best team in the league. “It takes time to adjust when you have had the success that you have had, when you have done what you have done”concludes Draymond Green.
