For Chris Paul, Victor Wembanyama has no limits

As he enters the final stretch of his career, Chris Paul decided to join Victor Wembanyama who is just starting his own, at the Spurs. Over the years in the NBA, “CP3” has seen future stars and generational talents pass through, but rarely like the Frenchman.

“I don't think he has any limits.”, assures the former Suns leader. “Last season he was one of those players we all talked about, thinking it was weird to defend him, to try to shoot over him… But it shows how much the game has evolved.”

At 39, playing alongside a phenomenon like Victor Wembanyama is a project he could not ignore, as he acknowledged shortly after his arrival in San Antonio was made official.

“I played against Victor Wembanyama this season, and I can tell you that there is probably no player who is talked about more after a game. Everyone has to adapt to a player like that,” he explained. “Harrison Barnes and I were on the plane and we were talking about how lucky we were, at this point in our careers, to have the chance to enjoy it on a daily basis. It really helped us.”

A final challenge?

In San Antonio, the veteran point guard will discover a new team, a fairly young one this time. An experience he had already had at the Thunder by participating in the development of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Integrating a young group like the Spurs will be a new challenge for him.

“I'm excited to get playing. I've played long enough to know that I can't say 'this is the way the season will go' or 'this is the way things will happen'. But I'm mostly excited at this point in my career to get started,” he concludes. “We have a great group, young talent, we also have Harrison Barnes in our team. I'm excited about this challenge.”
