Focused on 3×3, Jimmer Fredette is no longer chasing the NBA

If veterans older than him like Danny Green, Derrick Rose or others play overtime in the NBA, Jimmer Fredette has long since given it up. As he prepares to compete in the 3×3 Cebu Masters in the Philippines, the 34-year-old shooting guard confided that he would not say no to one last stint in the NBA, but that this prospect no longer represents a priority , even though he has been out of the league for more than four years.

” Everything’s going well for me “, said the sniper in 241 matches on the clock. “I’ve already done all that. If teams want to take me, that’s great, but that’s not the goal. Very often in the NBA, you have to find the right situation at the right time. This is what makes the difference 95% of the time in the league. And sometimes it doesn’t go as planned. I had some very good times in the NBA, and others that were more difficult.”

Already an achievement to have arrived in the NBA

Even if his adventure in the NBA was generally disappointing compared to expectations, the former resident of BYU now wants to retain the positive in order not to dwell too much on the past, he who had recently confided to having regretted not having been himself in the Great League.

“I’m just grateful to realize my lifelong dream. While I come from a small town and I’m not super athletic or tall, being able to make it to the NBA is, I think, an accomplishment in itself.”he estimated. “To have been able to play for six years and have great moments, play really well. Then there is the timing, the situation, everything that can play a role. That’s how it works.”

The page seems to have turned, also in relation to the fact that Jimmer Fredette is now flourishing in 3×3 basketball, with the prospect of competing in the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 with Team USA.

“3×3 is fun. It’s a great opportunity and it’s really fun to practice. I feel really comfortable in the 3×3 now. It’s great to play in front of the fans. We received more or less warm welcomes in certain cities, but here it was very warm,” he added.
