First in demonstration against the Kings, the Warriors end up being scared

Which face of the Warriors to remember? That of a fiery first half where they seemed untouchable thanks to their attack? Or that of a very delicate end to the meeting which saw the Kings pass very close to the hold-up? After their defeat against the Nuggets, the Warriors have in any case found their way to winning by winning against their neighbors (130-125).

They did it aftera meeting that quickly took on the appearance of an All-Star Game at the scoring level. After signing a 10-0 to start, the locals continued to play a chiadé basketball against the Kings able to respond at least in the first twelve minutes (39-36).

The visitors had a lot more trouble containing Stephen Curry, still impressively easy behind the 3-point line, and his band in the following period ended with… 50 points scored by the Warriors (more than 4 points per minute !) and a comfortable lead at the break, on a simply surreal score (89-71).

Accustomed to accelerating the tempo after going to the locker room, the defending champions this time contented themselves with the exchange of baskets with their opponents in the third quarter. Enough to be still well ahead at the start of the last act (113-94).

Their attack seizing up at the end, the locals found a way to scare themselves off against De’Aaron Fox and a confident Kings team. The Kings pushed to the point of coming back to just two small possessions with two minutes left but the Warriors narrowly got away with it…

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

89 points in the first period! It was nice, 89 points in the first period, it’s madness. We will not contradict Jordan Poole on this point as the Warriors attack crushed the Kings defense in the first 24 minutes of the match. Thanks to their shooters and the quality of their passing game, the defending champions were able to generate maximum chaos among the Kings who were clearly overwhelmed by sequences.

The Collapse of the Warriors and the Return of the Kings. ” We played brilliantly at times, but we couldn’t keep up the pace. This is the flip side of the coin described by Steve Kerr, whose team settled for 41 points scored in the second act. Still without consequence before the last quarter, due to the gap maintained, this relaxation could have resulted in a very unpleasant defeat for the Warriors. The latter missed 12 consecutive shots in the last minutes, contributing to the return of the Kings who, despite this game played “back-to-back”, did not lack heart to attempt this comeback.

TOPS/FLOPS

Stephen Curry. With 28 points of his 33 points scored in the first period, the leader started by cooking the opposing defense. Like his team, however, he had a painful end to the match (walking, missed “lay-up”) which could have been expensive.

De’Aaron Fox. If Domantas Sabonis finished with the best evaluation of his team, and even of the match, he did not weigh on the end of the debates since he did not come off the bench in the last quarter. Unlike the playmaker who took matters into his own hands to boost his team offensively in this comeback attempt.

Andrew Wiggins. Very serious match for the winger who, like Jordan Poole, was a good lieutenant for Stephen Curry while Klay Thompson had a difficult evening in address.

The Kings Bench. Keegan Murray, Malik Monk and Richaun Holmes all had 15 or 16 points to support an overall much less inspired major five. The three men contributed to the comeback attempt and brought, for the first two cities, an external address which the team needed so much.

Klay Thompson. Small address level evening for the rear who however gave himself in defense, like the last well-defended possessions on Fox in the “money time”.
