Very happy to find his “natural position” at the head with the Pelicans, Dejounte Murray was clumsy (4/15) for his first official outing with New Orleans, which had to do without Zion Williamson, who was ill.
This did not prevent Willie Green's team from dominating the debates, behind Brandon Ingram's 33 points and the “double-double” of his summer recruit, with 14 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds.
The problem is that despite the victory, the match ended badly for the former Spurs All-Star…
On a shot at the very end of the match, Dejounte Murray was hampered when he was received by Zach LaVine, and he therefore fell. However, the fall was not particularly violent, the leader being able to catch himself.
Yet a harmless shock
The problem is that we see the playmaker immediately holding his hand and not wanting to be held by that hand, while his teammates help him to get up. He appears to have hurt himself when he tried to break his fall. However, it is difficult to imagine a big problem during this shock which seems quite innocuous in the image.
Except that in the process, Shams Charania ensures that the Pelicans fear a fracture in the left hand for Dejounte Murray. We will have to wait for more precise examinations, but it looks like a first nightmare for the Pels, who could be forced to do without their leader for several weeks.
“We hope it won’t be too long” commented CJ McCollum. “He looked at me and said there was something wrong with his hand. I didn't know how serious the situation was. But he just said, 'There's something wrong with my hand.' He continued to play. And he played well, considering the circumstances.”
