Finally, Charles Barkley will play overtime with TNT

Despite efforts to match Amazon's offer and thus attempt to remain the NBA broadcaster from the 2025/26 season, TNT was unsuccessful, with the channel having nevertheless attempted a last resort in court. As a result, the show “Inside The NBA” is on the verge of extinction, even if it could be picked up by another channel. Taking the lead, Charles Barkley had announced his retirement at the end of next season.

Finally, a few weeks after this announcement, the TNT consultant returned to his comments and specified that he would continue the adventure.

“I love my TNT Sports family. My first priority has always been and always will be our staff and keeping everyone together for as long as possible,” he explains thus in a press release. “I look forward to continuing to work with them, both on current shows and on new ones that we will develop together in the future.”

As a reminder, Charles Barkley has several years left on his contract, having extended his contract in 2022 for ten years with TNT. With a huge salary since we are talking about 20 million dollars per year…

“This is the only place for me. I’ve been impressed by the management team that’s been fighting hard, that’s been aggressive in adding new things to TNT Sports, which I’m very excited about. I’m going to give it my all to make sure we entertain the fans for years to come.”launches the 1993 MVP.

So no retirement for Charles Barkley who has already announced several times that he is leaving television, before changing his mind. But what will he do on TNT if the channel loses the NBA? The leaders of Warner Bros. Discovery are thinking of transforming the show into a sports show that would cover major US sports, and not just the NBA.
