Fifteen years later, Ricky Rubio should return to Badalona

Ricky Rubio should continue his career, and not just anywhere since he would have thus agreed with his first club, Joventut Badalone! After a few months at FC Barcelona, Ricky Rubio didn't know if he would continue playing next season. A time away from the field due to mental health issues, the 33-year-old Spanish point guard had even put aside the Valencia OQT because he wasn't 100%…

But Ricky Rubio should therefore leave the Catalan club to return to his first professional club, Joventut Badalona, also in Catalonia. He left it 15 years ago!

Professional debut at 14 years and 11 months

The Spaniard had in fact played his first four professional seasons at Badalona, between 2005 and 2009, before being drafted by Wolves but remaining for two more years in Spain, at FC Barcelona. As a reminder, at Badalona, he had become the youngest player in the history of the Spanish championship, at only 14 years and 11 months.

After having confirmed the end of his NBA career and his return to Europe, Ricky Rubio will also play the EuroCup, which he won in 2008 with Badalone. At the end of his season with Barcelona, he averaged 4.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 17 minutes of play during the 13 games he was able to play in the Euroleague.

Last season, Joventut Badalona finished 10th in the Spanish league with a record of 16 wins and 18 losses, missing out on the playoffs. The club also lost in the quarter-finals of the EuroCup to the eventual winner of the competition, Paris Basketball.
