Far from his family, Damian Lillard watches boxing on YouTube

During his time in Portland with the Bucks, Damian Lillard had stayed longer than expected. The All-Star point guard took advantage of this return to Oregon to spend time with his children, who remained in Portland with their mother, from whom he separated. At the beginning of February, the leader confided that it was difficult to live with, and after five months in Wisconsin, he recognizes that it is still just as complicated to manage. Especially since his mother, sister and brother also live in Portland.

“It’s difficult being away from my children. In Portland, my life was well organized. My mother was down the street, my brother was across the street. My sister was down the street. My children were at school » he confides. “My whole life was perfectly organized there. It was an ideal situation. Just leaving all that behind is already a lot…”

No family, no social life

Sports Illustrated then asks him if this loneliness weighs on him.

“It’s true that I feel alone because I’m a family man. My life is my family. After the matches, I would go out and my whole family would be there. My children were coming out of the playroom. My mother, my brother, my cousins lived there, you know what I mean? My best friends live in Portland » he insists. “After the matches, we would go to dinner. They sometimes came to my house. After training, I would go to my mother's house and relax. This is how I lived. I'm fine because I've matured. But I really feel alone. These are the people who fulfill me. »

And precisely, what are his hobbies, away from his family?

“I go to training, I go home, I watch boxing, I play video games. I type FightHype on YouTube 100 times and pray there's something new. Seriously, I don't have much of a life. But that’s what comes from an adult decision. You have to prepare for it and manage it. »
