Failed Boston–Washington–LA Clippers triangle trade

We know: the Celtics did not intend to remain inactive this summer and so they will recover Kristaps Porzingis.

To afford the Latvian (23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 against), Boston was working on an exchange with the Wizards therefore, but also the Clippers. Launched into a reconstruction after the transfer of Bradley Beal, the leaders of Washington were thus very close to recovering Danilo Gallinari, Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey and the 30th choice of the 2023 Draft, while the Clippers were about to make a very good deal with the arrival of Malcolm Brogdon, a full back, capable of be effective as a starter or 6th man.

Except that the financial details were complex, in particular because of the “player option” of Porzingis, and the three formations did not reach an agreement. They had given themselves until midnight to agree.

Finally, the Celtics and the Wizards went to get the Grizzlies to finalize the exchange, and it is even more significant since Marcus Smart takes the direction of Memphis, and Tyus Jones joins Washington.
