Expected as number one of the Draft 2024, Matas Buzelis joins the Ignite Team well

After Victor Wembanyama, expected as the first choice of the 2023 Draft in three weeks, another European may well be drafted in first position in a year. Indeed, it is for now Matas Buzelis which would hold the rope according to several “Mock Draft” but, before flying off for the NBAthe Lithuanian will first play a year in G League.

As reported by ESPNthe 18-year-old signed up with theIgnite Team in order to best prepare for the Draft 2024 in the 2023/24 season. An expected choice, because it was already mentioned last summer when announcing his decision to defend the colors of the Lithuanian selection, when he also had the possibility of representing the United States as a native of Chicago .

Training winger, Matas Buzelis (2m11 and 88kg) spent the 2022/23 season with the Sunrise Christian Academy (15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 against per game) and he played for the last McDonald’s All-American. By spinning in the G-League rather than in the NCAA, or even abroad, he imitates Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Dyson Daniels, Jaden Hardy or even Scoot Henderson, who also all went through the Ignite Team before joining submit to the Draft.
