At the start of the week against the Wizards, the Raptors had erased a 23-point deficit in the second half to finally win in the final seconds, thanks to a game-winning shot from Pascal Siakam. But this time, facing a much stronger opponent, particularly in defense, the club Toronto failed to repeat the feat.
Relegated to -23 at the break after a sad first period (only 47 points and 12 ball losses), the teammates of Scottie Barnes (29 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists) were in fact unable to reverse the trend against Bucks focused and merciless, despite the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Damian Lillard (37 points, 4 rebounds, 13 assists and 2 interceptions) and his comrades simply overwhelmed Darko Rajakovic’s players from the start of the match, painful and ultimately boring for everyone for 48 long minutes in the Scotiabank Arena. The gap has increased to +33!
For the locals, it was one of those evenings in which nothing worked, and nothing to remember: an attack not only limited due to the absences of Gary Trent Jr. and OG Anunoby but also broken down (39.6% on shots), and a defense that was simply powerless in the face of the quality of the offensive play of Adrian Griffin’s players.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– A cold winter evening for the Raptors. With the exception of a much-too-late burst of pride at the start of the fourth quarter, there is not much to remember from this game from the Raptors’ point of view. If their renewed energy in this last act was certainly convincing, the rest was less so, if not at all. For three quarters, the Raptors were simply too weak in all respects (apart from rebounding…) to hold up against these serious Bucks even without their “Greek Freak”. A match to forget.
– Malik Beasley kicked off his season. Relatively discreet in the Bucks attack since the start of the season (8.3 points per game before this match), the guard delivered his benchmark performance against these weak Raptors, pounded behind the arc by the former Florida State : 30 points at 8/11 behind the arc! Enough to kick off your season.
