Arbitration is evolving everywhere, and so are the regulations, and for next season, the Euroleague will implement several small adjustmentsparticularly on the actions that the referees review on the screen.
The major European league actually aligns with FIBA rules, for example on jump balls and the defensive half-circle. In this case, the defender will be considered outside the half-circle under the backboard, to cause a force pass, if his foot is on it, or in the air but outside said half-circle.
Slow motion on returns to the zone
Throw-ins after a whistle during a jump ball will also be separated, and will not be penalized with an automatic throw-in under the circle. When the foul or violation is committed in the defending team's half-court, there will be a throw-in on the side with 24 seconds on the clock. When the foul or violation is committed in the attacking team's half-court, the throw-in will take place in attack, but with only 14 seconds.
Finally, the returns to the zone may be reviewed in slow motion by the officials, especially at the end of tense matches, that is to say in the last two minutes of the match (or overtime). A decision that the coaches may challenge by their “challenge”.
