Euro 2025: France in a complicated group

On the sidelines of the World Cup, and a year before the Olympic Games, FIBA ​​carried out the draw for the eliminatory groups for Eurobasket 2025 which will take place in Latvia, Cyprus, Finland and Poland. Seeded, France was not particularly spoiled since it fell in group E with Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus. The French team will have to finish in one of the first two places since Cyprus, as the host country, is already qualified for the final phase.

In the groups without an organizing country, it is the first three of each group which are qualified for a total of 24 qualified nations out of 32. Spain in group C, or Italy and Germany have not been spoiled either.

Group A : Slovenia, Ukraine, Israel, Portugal
Band B : Italy, Türkiye, Hungary, Iceland
Group C : Spain, Latvia, Belgium, Slovakia
Group D : Germany, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Sweden
Group E : France, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus
Group F : Greece, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Great Britain
Group G : Serbia, Finland, Georgia, Denmark
Group H : Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, North Macedonia

The qualification windows take place in three phases: February 19-27, 2024, November 18-26, 2024 and February 17-25, 2025 with two matches to be played by each team. Which means France will have to do without Rudy Gobert, Victor Wembanyama and the other NBAers.
