End of series for Angel Reese

The record for consecutive double-doublesAngel Reese ended tonight in a “rematch” against Liberty. This time, the game was in Chicago, and the Sky lost again (81-67) to Sabrina Ionescu's teammates. The rookie had to settle for 8 points and 16 rebounds, and she therefore stops at 15 “double-doubles” in a row. It's an absolute record in the WNBA, and Reese cracked in the second half with a horrible 0 of 5 shooting.

Opposite, Liberty did everything to prevent her from getting this 16th “double-double”, to the point of defending with four on her during the last possession! “Winning is the most important thing for me” had warned the interior of the Sky. “I'm doing a great job, I'm trying to be consistent and I've already broken the record. So I just want to be myself, and do the best I can to meet the needs of my partners.”

All-Star, like her rival Caitlin Clark, Reese is now considered the favorite for the Rookie Of The Year trophy. But the interested party does not want to hear about it. “I do not think about the rookie of the year trophy,” she promises. “Obviously I’m here to win. I want to go to the playoffs, go as far as I can. Chicago deserves something big. To be able to come back to Chicago where Candace Parker played and where I’m breaking records… I don’t want to be singled out unless I’m a winner, and to be able to bring this title back to Chicago is something I’m looking forward to.”
