Charles Barkley, Grant Hill, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green… Regularly, superstars of yesterday and today do not hesitate to put their hands in their pockets to help their former university. This is the case today of Dwyane Wade who just did a check for three million dollars for Marquette University.
Present in Milwaukee on Monday for the visit of Villanova, Wade played for Marquette from 2001 to 2003 and he helped the Golden Eagles reach the Final Four in 2003. They have not reached this level since.
“From his years at Marquette to today, Dwyane embodies our core values: human connection, progression and victory”reacted Shaka Smart, the coach of the Golden Eagles. “Dwyane’s legacy and impact continues to grow. Our current players truly appreciate his strong connection and commitment to our program, and our future student-athletes will be excited to practice on the field that will bear his name. »
Wade's gift will expand the summer reading school program for Milwaukee children, establish a Wade Scholars program for low-income students and expand the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center of the University. This facility will include a new training facility for the basketball program, including the land will be named after Wade.
