Duncan Robinson, symbol of the Heat’s good form

Last season, he had to wait until the very last game of the regular season to reach the symbolic mark of 20 points. It’s already done this season for Duncan Robinsonauthor of a great 26-point outing last night on the Spurs floor.

While the Heat was deprived of two starters, Tyler Herro (ankle) and Kyle Lowry (rest), not forgetting Caleb Martin (knee), the Florida sniper benefited from his second start of the year to show off.

I tried to be aggressive in different ways, especially without Herro. He does so much for our offense, it’s an opportunity for me to do more and do different things “, notes the 29-year-old.

By “different things”, we mean “not just 3-point shooting”. The long-distance shooting specialist (a little less than 40% 3-point success in his career) certainly still shot from afar (4/7 behind the arc), in “catch-and-shoot” in particular.

But the back, who was coming off an ugly 1/10 in the matter against the Hawks, also showed off his (developing) dribbling skills to open up a path on the circle. Including beating Victor Wembanyama on a hesitant dribble to take the baseline with his left hand.

Result: by not just shooting, Duncan Robinson scored 8 points in the paint. And compiled a total of 26 points (8/16), in addition to 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Duncan was very good tonight at all levels, his ability to bring the ball up, his creation, his movement game… And we must also not forget what he is there for, which is to say (to play) beyond the 3-point line. But it’s not just limited to that. This shows how much his game has developed », greets his coach Erik Spoelstra who has already had to use seven different middle fingers since the start of the season.

This instability does not disrupt the current progress of his team which has just signed a fifth consecutive victory. In this sequence, Duncan Robinson averaged 15 points (47% shooting), with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. And over the season as a whole, he generally doubled his statistical performance compared to his last season.
