Draft 2023 | The Rockets’ 4th pick arouses envy

Like every year, but even more so this year, all the franchises hoped to recover the first choice of the Draft, synonymous with Victor Wembanyama. The Spurs clinched the jackpot while Texas neighbors the Rockets picked up the fourth pick.

It’s still a good catch but, with the expected face of this Draft 2023, it’s not necessarily the best of situations. Victor Wembanyama called first, the Hornets and Blazers are likely to choose (although the order is yet to be determined) Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller. The top three already seem set in stone, with the three biggest talents no longer available to the Rockets at the time of speaking…

Now, what to do ? We know that the Texans have veterans in their sights and The Athletic we also learn that several franchises have shown interest in this fourth choice. Perhaps this is a good way to recover a confirmed player in exchange for this Draft choice, if no young talent (Amen Thompson for example) really imposes itself in the minds of the leaders of Houston.

Our colleagues also argue that it is possible to see the Rockets offer a package with their 4th choice and the 20th in order to go up in this Draft and try to recover the 2nd choice from the Hornets or the 3rd from the Blazers, because the Spurs will not on their side obviously not let go of their first choice.
