After Jordan Hawkins, this time it’s the other member of the Connecticut “backcourt” who is getting closer to the NBA: ESPN is indeed reporting that Andre Jackson Jr. entered the 2023 Draft while maintaining college eligibility. This means that he has not yet hired an agent, and retains the possibility of withdrawing his registration (before the deadline of May 31) to return to play an additional season with the Huskies at the start of the school year.
Playmaker in the device of the NCAA champions 2023, without being a natural of the position, the native of the State of New York is a beautiful baby on the physical level (1m98 for 95 kilos). He’s the glue guy par excellence, an offensive and defensive playmaker capable of doing anything at relatively high volume. Last season, he averaged 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals. Only downside: the outside shot, still under construction (28% last season).
For the moment projected in the second half of the first round, or at the latest at the start of the second round, Andre Jackson Jr. has a future in the NBA from next season, with his all-purpose player profile.
His hesitation as to whether or not to maintain his candidacy can certainly be explained by his projection in the Draft: the NIL in the NCAA would certainly allow him to earn more money than with a non-guaranteed contract in the second round…
He is thus typically the player who will see things more clearly after the Draft Combine.
