“Dominayton” thanks critics

If Toumani Camara was praised by Deandre Ayton for having “saved” the Blazers with his offensive rebound in the final seconds, after a missed free throw from the pivot, it was the former Phoenix pivot who was the most brilliant in Portland's victory against the Hawks.

It must be said that with 33 points at 15/20 shooting and 19 rebounds, Ayton was dominant, like a few days ago against Toronto. Since he returned from his hand injury, three games, he is averaging 26 points and 17 rebounds.

“I hear, I listen and I love”, he declares on the criticism that has surrounded his performances for several years. “I thank my detractors for that, because it allows me to approach things the right way. Thanks to them, I wear my cape until the end. »

“I’m more dominant”

After a timid start to the season on a statistical level, and despite a certain irregularity which persists, Deandre Ayton has been gaining momentum for several weeks and the beginning of February.

“I play hard, that’s all. Every game is a great game to play with my teammates, get to know them and be on the field with them beating me,” explains the 2021 NBA finalist. “By playing these matches, I try to do my best. Not just doing what I need to do and being in my role, but doing more. I'm there. »

With this style of performance, “Dominayton” fully justifies its nickname. “I am more dominant. People might laugh about it but it's the truth.”he assures. “I try to give everything. Whether I'm the bad kid or not, I'm trying to be great, to be a winner in this league. I want to be known like that. If we are by my side, we will learn to win. »
