Doc Rivers hires his son to join the Bucks staff

While many criticize the Lakers' choice to hire Bronny James, it must be remembered that nepotism exists at all levels in the NBA. In the past, whether in the rosters, the staffs or the organizational charts, we have often seen brothers play or work together, or fathers hire a son. This is once again the case at the Bucks since Doc Rivers announced that his son Spencer had joined him on the Milwaukee staff. Remember that at the Bucks, we already had the Antetokounmpo brothers, but also Lopez. We know family matters…

Spencer is 29 years old, and he is Austin's brother who played for his father at the Clippers. A former college player, at UC Irvine, Spencer Rivers started in the business last season with the Pistons, on Monty Williams' staff. As is often the case, he did not survive the coach's dismissal, and Doc was quick to hire him.

Darvin Ham is the first assistant

The former Clippers and Sixers coach took the opportunity to finalize his staff with Darvin Ham as first assistant, supported by Vin Baker, Greg Buckner, Pete Dominguez, Dave Joerger, Rex Kalamian, Jason Love, Joe Prunty and therefore Spencer Rivers. No Sam Cassell who he had tried to bring in.

“Pete Dominguez will be the coach of the Summer League team,” Milwaukee coach says. “Most of our development guys will be his assistants. The rest of us are done. Dave Joerger is back. With him, Darvin Ham, Greg Buckner will be the three on the bench. Then Pete and Rex and the others will sit behind the bench.”
