Better late than never ! While the lack of veterans to mentor Houston’s young stars has been repeatedly pointed out this season, especially after the departure of Eric Gordon, the Rockets finally got their hands on an experience 1 position in the person from DJ Augustine. At 35, the leader knows the house well having played in Houston for just under a year in 2021.
The Rockets have nothing left to play but in their quest for development, the presence of DJ Augustin over the last three weeks of the regular season can only be beneficial for young rockets Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. It remains to be seen if the Rockets gave him a glimpse of the possibility of continuing the adventure next season if the collaboration were to go well until mid-April.
Note that DJ Augustin is a regular of the genre since he had already joined the Lakers at the end of last season, this time with the mission of helping the Californian franchise to hang the playoffs, in vain…
Free agent G DJ Augustin is signing with the Houston Rockets for the rest of the season, his agent Raymond Brothers of ROC Nation Sports tells ESPN.
