While she’s not the only cause of the Nets’ worries, it’s obvious Kevin Durant’s absence has hurt the Nets a lot. Since being in the infirmary, Brooklyn has lost eight out of ten games.
The defeat at Utah is even the seventh in a row. Inevitably, these setbacks weigh in the standings since January 22, after their last victory, Steve Nash’s players were at the top of the East. Two weeks later, they are sixth and feel the breath of Toronto, Boston and Charlotte in their necks…
“We have to accept the reality: we are not winning our matches at the moment”, summarizes Kyrie Irving at ESPN. “We have to come out of this hole with a simple victory, to start a new series. But now is clearly not the time to think the season is doomed, nor to press the ‘panic’ button. “
“I’ve been in the NBA for 11 years, I’ve had ups and downs, I have experience”
As Kevin Durant is injured and the trio with James Harden has played very little together, the Nets playmaker still asks for patience.
“Building champion habits takes time,” continues the 2016 champion. “Time is not necessarily on our side. But to have these habits, you have to be resistant and give yourself even more when you’re tired and you have all the excuses in the world to let go. The answer will be collective. We are in a league where you have to win above all and we are judged on victories and statistics. So our position is going to look worse than it is. But I’ve been in the NBA for 11 years, I’ve had my ups and downs, I have experience. We have to believe in ourselves, regardless of our group. “
With 15 points at 6/20 to shoot, the former Cleveland and Boston is far from having been flawless against the Jazz. He only started his season in early January and only plays away matches, and as a result he is still struggling to find his rhythm and develop automation with his teammates.
“With a lot of my teammates, I’m still learning to play with them. I’m still trying to get used to this rhythm, I’m still in observation mode. I’m not where I want to be. At the moment, if I’m not skilful and if I don’t play well, then the evening is going to be complicated. ”
