Despite himself, James Harden could stay at the Sixers

While Joel Embiid and Patrick Beverley have publicly called on him to stay at the Sixers and backtrack on his transfer request, ESPN reports that James Harden spoke with his managers, and confirmed to them that he wanted to be transferred. Which doesn’t mean he’s going to leave…

The Sixers aren’t in a rush to transfer him, and so far it can’t be said that his transfer request has raised much enthusiasm. At the end of the contract, the 2018 MVP has been on the move for two years, and that obviously does not reassure potential applicants. On the side of the Sixers, we wish, like the Blazers with Damian Lillard, not to be losers in any possible exchange. No question of selling it off.

That’s why Harden could start the season with the Sixers, and wait until February to be transferred. He could even play there all season since he will be free in July 2024, and then free to sign wherever he wants. That’s what you think Dave McMenaminour ESPN colleague, who spoke to several people in Las Vegas.
