Already cursed last season in terms of injuries, the Grizzlies visibly start again on similar bases. So, while we know GG Jackson and Vince Williams are respectively absent for another two and a month, we are informed of the injuries of Desmond Bane And Marcus Smarteach contracted Wednesday night against the Nets.
As it stands, it is announcement that both players will be re-evaluated every week and it can therefore be ruled that they will miss at least seven days. Their return to competition will then depend on how and how quickly they recover physically.
For Desmond Bane, it is a strain in his right oblique muscle (the degree just below Paolo Banchero, victim of a tear…). For Marcus Smart, it is a sprained right ankle, the severity of which is not specified.
Both are coming off a season weighed down by injuries, with Desmond Bane playing only 42 games in 2023/24 and Marcus Smart doing much worse with barely 20 games. Holders this season, they left their place in the five to Santi Aldama and Jaylen Wells against Milwaukee.
