As his team took a big spanking, the Chicago crowd forgot their whistles to ignite for… an opposing player. Not just anyone since it was about Derrick Rose ! Three minutes from the end, Tom Thibodeau launched the “garbage time” and he brought in his playmaker, glued to the bench since December 3.
“It was unreal to come here and receive so much love” reacted Rose after the Knicks’ 6th straight win. What did he answer when Thibodeau approached him to come into play? “I can’t say now because they’re going to fine me or something. But I told him I was ready,” continues Rose. “I feel privileged that we had a great game and that allowed me to come into play”.
A classy reaction from Rose, as always. No sourness or frustration in his reaction. “It was crazy” says Jalen Brunson. “It is without doubt the most unique moment of this series of trips”.
His shirt soon removed?
Rose’s love rating remains special in Chicago, and in the end, only one thing is missing to unite her forever with her honest heart: that her number 1 reaches the ceiling of the room. “It’s a question that you have to ask the management, but I hope so” reacts Tom Thibodeau, former coach of the Bulls. “Personally, I think he deserves it. I would like to see that. »
What does Rose think of it, when no Chicago player has worn number 1 for several seasons? “If Thibs says it, they should do it” he laughs. “As I said before, it would be huge to see that, but we’re years away from that…”
In their history, the Bulls have retired only four jerseys: Michael Jordan (23), Scottie Pippen (33), Jerry Sloan (4) and Bob Love (10).
