His precariousness doesn’t seem to bother him too much. Still without an NBA contract for next season, Dennis Schroder is having a blast with Germany, who qualified for the semi-finals of their EuroBasket at the expense of Greece. And according to Marc Stein, the recent performances of the playmaker have raised his rating well across the Atlantic. He could thus sign a new contract by the end of the month, and the opening of the “training camp”.
For the record, there has recently been talk of interest from the Mavs and Lakers. While waiting for a new opportunity in the Big League, the 28-year-old is reminding the basketball world that his speed qualities remain intact.
On Tuesday night, he made the Greek defense dizzy with his many changes of pace and direction. For once skilful from afar (3/6), the former player of the Hawks, Thunder, Lakers, Celtics or even the Rockets was the great architect of his team’s victory with his 26 points (8/15 on shots), 8 assists and 3 rebounds before being expelled at the very end of the game after several gestures to chamber the Greeks.
It was his best game – he even has some asked for his coach’s credit card to celebrate that ! – of a competition in which he runs at 20 points and 7 assists. With percentages that could still make some recruiters doubt (39.6% including 26% by far…).
We recall that in 2020, he had turned his back on an offer of $ 84 million over four years to the Lakers before signing, during the summer of 2021, a much more modest one-year contract at $ 5.9 million at Boston.
