Dennis Schröder apologizes to Maxi Kleber

Dennis Schröder vs. Maxi Kléber : episode 3. After the statements against Dennis Schröder on his compatriot Maxi Kleber, accusing him of having shown dilettantism in selection, the German interior responded by recalling the cause of his absence last summer at the Euro, and decided in the process to announce his withdrawal for the World Cup, no longer considering himself welcome in the national team.

Suffice to say that the case took on large proportions across the Rhine, to the point that Dennis Schrôder had to publish a letter of apology on the German federation website…

“I would like to apologize to Maxi Kleber and his family for my statements and the inconvenience they caused. I never intended to put anyone in an awkward situation or upset the team. My intention was simply to defend my team and make it clear that I would do anything for them., did he declare. “It was never personal against Maxi Kleber on my side. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m straight forward and always assume that the person I’m talking to understands what I’m talking about, but once again I had proof that this is not always the case. I continue to like and respect him and his career, and hope he accepts my apology. »

No sanctions for Dennis Schröder

The German federation for its part clarified that it would not sanction Dennis Schröder for this misconduct which could still cause the absence of a potentially major player from the selection.

“The situation that has arisen is regrettable, but we were able to discuss it, reflect on it and resolve it internally”for his part underlined Gordon Herbert, the coach. “Dennis showed courage by apologizing. Dennis really takes care of his teammates. He is very proud and honored to represent his country.”

Perhaps his apologies will be the first step towards a reconciliation? The ball is now in Maxi Kleber’s court for episode 4…
