After having long hoped to return to the league, DeMarcus Cousins has definitely turned the page on the NBA. The pivot confirmed this in an interview with Hoopshype following a new experience abroad, in Taiwan for a four-game stint.
At 33, “Boogie” appeared above all to be at peace with this decision, projecting himself more on the future rather than on his past.
“Honestly, no,” he responded about a possible imminent return to the NBA. “I know I’ve served my time. There was a point where I tried to make it happen. But in my life right now, with everything I do, outside of basketball, I'm in a good situation. So, like I said, I'm excited about what's ahead for me and my future. My 12 years in the league were just one or more small chapters of my life. I’m ready to move on.”

DeMarcus Cousins' last stint in the NBA dates back to the end of the 2021-2022 season, when he finished the year with the Nuggets, playing 36 games between the regular season and the playoffs. Despite himself, he then turned abroad with Puerto Rico in 2023 then Taiwan with the Taiwan Beer Leopards last month, which seems to suit him perfectly, even if he has not yet officially extended the adventure .
“I'm lucky enough to be able to play basketball all over the world, meet different people and experience different cultures. This is one of the most positive aspects of this sport. Plus, you meet people who have the same love and passion for this sport as you.”he added. “My time in Taiwan was incredible. I met really kind and sincere people, and that’s a rare thing in the times we live in.”
