He is a regular in the Drew League and even played a game there alongside LeBron James two years ago. This year, DeMar DeRozan clinched the title of this summer league by scoring a game with more than 50 points. This is also the first time he has been crowned, just a stone's throw from Compton, where he was born and raised.
Things were looking pretty bad for the Kings' new recruit, as his team trailed by as many as 20 points and was still down 16 with 5 minutes left in the game. But DeRozan took charge with 54 points and 11 rebounds to secure the title.
In the last two minutes of the game, the former Bulls player even scored 13 points, punctuated by the winning free throws (114-113). Whether in the NBA or in a semi-professional league, DeRozan remains a specialist in “clutch time”.
This is not DeMar DeRozan's first success in this edition of the Drew League, since he also scored 45 points in the first round of the playoffs.
