DeMar DeRozan arrives at the Kings and Harrison Barnes joins the Spurs

The rumor was right: DeMar DeRozan joined the Kings via a sign-and-trade, and it was the Spurs who facilitated his arrival. At almost 35 years old, the All-Star winger signed a $74 million, three-year contractwhile Spurs recover Harrison Barnes. The Spurs will also have the option to trade their 2031 first-round draft pick to the Kings. As for the Bulls, they get cash, Chris Duarte and two “second round” Drafts.

On paper, Sacramento has an exceptional offensive quartet with De'Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and the young Keegan Murray. With the Fox-DeRozan pair, the Kings can boast of having two of the most “clutch” players in the NBA!

The Bulls in full reconstruction

But Mike Brown's players lose big in defense with Barnes, even Duarte. The former Warriors winger therefore arrives at the Spurs where he will team up with Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama. Gregg Popovich aimed right in terms of experience and professionalism to supervise the French pivot.

As for the Bulls, they sign a wing guard who specializes in dirty work and can start alongside Josh Giddey and Zach LaVine, if the latter is not traded… DeRozan's departure confirms that Chicago is turning a page, and for now, it is difficult to distinguish a guiding principle, even if the Giddey-White-Williams trio seems to be the backbone of the project.
