De’Aaron Fox and the Kings bring down the Target Center

It’s always good to fight for something else. » It must be believed that the NBA tournament particularly motivates Harrison Barnes, De’Aaron Fox and the Kings. The latter went to impose themselves with authority on the floor of the best team in the West, the Wolves (111-124). After the Celtics’ defeat in Orlando, the Wolves were even leaders of the NBA at the start of the meeting.

This success in the tournament allows the Californians to keep control of Group C and thus aim for direct qualification for the quarter-finals. Not really tense by the event, the visitors started off with a bang by scoring 38 points in the first minutes (31-38), relying on a good 3-point address, notably that of Kevin Huerter, from the start game.

The Wolves will hold on as best they can to the score, but they are showing their limits in containing the pace of the opponent’s well-oiled attack. Like this rare sequence where Naz Reid scores on one side, before seeing De’Aaron Fox answer him at the speed of light on the other and score with a dunk, seven seconds later, without the defense premises had time to put themselves back in place.

A big effort to come back

On another dunk from Malik Monk, the Kings are already 22 points ahead (35-57), with still 7 minutes to play in the first period… Mainly thanks to their duo Anthony Edwards – Karl-Anthony Towns, the Wolves will sign a big effort over this period of time to pick up the score when returning to the locker room (64-70).

Before suffering a new blow in the following period. Neck to neck for several minutes, the Wolves will remain for long minutes without managing to score. De’Aaron Fox, Trey Lyles and the others took the opportunity to accelerate again and regain their distance (79-92). With only 15 points scored in this third quarter, the Wolves are at a standstill.

And the latter will not be able to reproduce their surge before the break, since the fourth quarter resembles a constant exchange of baskets, where the gap will not be called into question. The pair De’Aaron Fox – Domantas Sabonis did too much damage to the opposing defense, despite Rudy Gobert.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The Kings control Group C. Three victories in as many matches, this is the Kings’ record in this group C. At the top, the Californians have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals. But with the Warriors’ victory against the Spurs at the same time, they have not yet assured their qualification since the two teams face each other on Tuesday.

End of series. This is the first home defeat for the Wolves, who started the season with a 7-0 at Target Center. It was quite simply the best home start in their history.
