Davis Bertans leaves NBA for Dubai

It is presented as ” the last piece of our historic first season “. Dubai Basketball Club has just made official the arrival of Davis Bertans within its workforce. A great catch for this formation of the Adriatic League (ABA League) likely to integrate the Euroleague in the future.

The amount of the contract has not been revealed, but we imagine that it is substantial since the 31-year-old shooter was worth $17 million last season. Also, before being released this summer by the Hornets while he was in the middle of the Olympic qualifying tournament with Latvia, he was supposed to receive $5 million for the upcoming season.

A peak at 15 points on average in 2020

The Latvian had also recently landed a test with the Warriors, with a view to obtaining a hypothetical place in the team's “training camp”. With possibly a minimum contract at stake.

Davis Bertans thus turns the page on eight seasons played in the Major League. Drafted in 2011 by the Pacers (42nd choice), he only joined the NBA and the Spurs six years later. He built a reputation as a serious sniper in Texas.

Before exploding for one season with the Wizards with whom he averaged over 15 points (2019-2020). Holder of a huge contract, the power forward never managed to reproduce such a level of efficiency thereafter within several franchises (Mavs, Thunder and Hornets).

He left the NBA after just under 500 games played, averaging around 8 points on 40% 3-point shooting.
