The Wizards continue to expand their staff with the recruitment of David Vanterpoolthe day after the announcement of the arrival of Brian Keefe, also from Brooklyn.
Former player referenced at the highest European level (winner of the Euroleague with CSKA Moscow in 2006), David Vanterpool has spent his last eleven seasons as an assistant in the NBA, in Portland (2012-2019), in Minnesota as as first assistant to Ryan Saunders (2019-2021), then to the Nets. Last summer, he landed an interview with the Hornets, who were then looking for James Borrego’s successor.
David Vanterpool will bring his experience to the Wizards staff, particularly in player development.
The Washington Wizards are hiring David Vanterpool as an assistant coach, sources tell ESPN. He’ll join Wes Unseld’s staff after stops with Brooklyn, Minnesota and Portland. A native of the Washington, DC-area, Vanterpool brings a strong background in player development.
