Injured during Australia's last preparation match, against France (83-82), Dante Exum caused concern a few days before the start of the Olympic Games. The point guard/guard ran to the locker room holding hands while his teammates were still fighting for the ball with the Blues.
“He suffered a dislocation of his right index finger during the match”, Anna Meraes saidin charge of the Australian delegation. “X-rays confirmed there was no fracture and he should be able to participate in the Games.”
Despite this dislocation, Dante Exum should therefore be part of the adventure with the Boomers.
“They allowed him to play and Dante is a tough guy.”says his teammate, the pivot, Jock Landale. “He’s definitely a key piece of the puzzle for us.”
In Tokyo, Dante Exum had 9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists in an average of 20.6 minutes of play throughout the competition. It remains to be seen whether he and his team will do better than the 3rd place they obtained in Japan.
The Australians will start the Olympic tournament this Saturday at 11am against Spain (Group A).
